Many of the architectural antiques we offer have lived long, storied lives and may have been painted with materials that contained lead. By purchasing these items, you acknowledge this possibility and accept all associated risks. Green Pirogue is not responsible for any exposure to lead that may result from the use, handling, or alteration of these products.

 

Antique Wood Condition & Insect Activity

Many of our pieces are genuine antique and reclaimed wood that may be decades or even centuries old. Because these materials were originally used in historic structures, it is possible that signs of previous insect activity may be present. This can include old termite tunnels, beetle holes, worm holes, or other natural aging characteristics.

In most cases, any insect activity is historic and inactive. However, we cannot guarantee that all pieces are entirely free from pests or dormant insect presence. As a precaution, we recommend that all antique wood be properly inspected and, if desired, treated by a licensed pest control professional prior to installation or integration into a home.

These natural characteristics are considered part of the authenticity and charm of reclaimed materials and are not considered defects.
